Reader Mailbag: Remanufactured vs New Appliances

Today I got an email about a subject I’ve been meaning to write about for the past two weeks. I’ll let the Jan from New York open the dialogue up:

Dear Wise and Gracious Appliance Sensei,

Thank you for your reviews on refrigerators. They helped me and my husband choose a great refrigerator that fits great inside our new apartment.

We’re a busy couple and we don’t always have time to do everything we should. That’s why I started looking into the Roomba robot vacuum cleaner. We were comparing prices on Amazon and noticed that they offered new models as well as remanufactured models. Can you explain the differences between new models and remanufactured models? Oh yeah, and tell us if the Roomba is worth buying? Thanks,
